The government has banned 59 Chinese apps, including the popular Chinese app Tiktok. These Chinese apps are believed to be a matter of privacy protection. Apart from TikTok, a total of 59 apps are also included, including Shareit, Helo, UC Browser, Likey and WeChat.

Government said, threat to sovereignty and security of the country
As per the order issued by the government, the government banned 59 mobile apps that were prejudicial to India’s sovereignty and integrity, defense of India, security of the state and public order.
Under the provisions of the Information Technology Act under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act (IT Act), the Ministry of Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 and looking at the contingent nature of threats 59 app has been banned.
On behalf of the government, it was said that there were increased concerns about the aspects related to data security and the privacy protection of 130 crore Indians. Recently, it has been noted that such concerns also threaten the sovereignty and security of our country.
